The Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois has been a financial partner with area communities since its original charter as the Farmers State Bank of Alpha on January 22, 1910. In May of 1980, Alpha Banco, Inc. was formed and purchased a majority of Farmers State Bank of Alpha. In March of 1983, an office was established in New Windsor. That community had not had a local bank since the Depression.
