Islanders Bank was organized in 1980 by a number of San Juan County residents, two of which are still active board members. Their goal then, as now, was to serve the financial needs of the County, its businesses, and its citizens. Islanders Bank opened its doors for business on July 5th, 1981 in Friday Harbor. A second branch was established on Orcas Island in 1988, and in 1996, Islanders Bank acquired the Lopez Island Branch.
