In May 1850 the bank came into existence by the granting of a state charter to operate as a mutual savings bank. The Litchfield Savings Society, as it was then known, opened its first account on July 23, 1850. Litchfield Bancorp’s been the same community bank ever since - no merger, no acquisition!
