Melvin Savings Bank was founded on December 12, 1912 by five local businessmen. They began as the German Savings Bank. The name was changed to the Melvin Savings Bank on April 4, 1918. The Melvin Savings Bank has grown from an asset size of twenty thousand dollars in 1912 to a bank of over sixty million dollars today. They have 14 employees in two locations.
