In June of 1915, a small group of Stroh area citizens met to organize a bank for a very new settlement in the southeast part of LaGrange County. FSB acquired the banking business of The First National Bank of Fremont in 2005. This caused the total assets to exceed $400 million. The most recent branch opening was in Millersburg, in 2008. On July 24, 1909, Farmers State Bank received its charter as a state bank of Kansas. Located at 121 South Main Street in Galva, Kansas, there were sixty-five stockholders with an original capital structure of $10,000. On July 24, 2009, Farmers State Bank celebrated its 100th Anniversary. A century strong, the bank now has capital accounts in excess of $11 million & $105 million in assets.
