On March 13, 1905, after acquiring property and erecting a building at the downtown corner of Barnard and Caswell Streets, Glennville Bank was officially opened. In 1976, Glennville Bank opened its first branch office at the corner of Veterans Boulevard (Highway 301) and Hencart Street in Glennville. Then, in 2000, Glennville Bank established its first division, Ludowici Bank, in Ludowici, GA.
South Georgia Bank was chartered in 1987 as South Georgia Federal Savings Bank. The vision of the charter Board of Directors was to provide a financial institution that specialized primarily in home mortgages and consumer lending in Tattnall, Evans and Long Counties. The home office was opened in April, 1987 at its current location on South Veterans Boulevard in Glennville. In 1992, the bank was renovated and enlarged to accommodate the increasing needs of a growing customer base.
